Brief History of Centennial Farm

Centennial Farm is a 320-unit cooperative residential complex for adults 55 or older.  Located at the corner of Rushton and Ten Mile Roads in Livingston County’s Green Oak Township, this attractive community was built on the former Olds/Read Centennial Farm dating to the 1830’s. Centennial Farm consists of Phase I with 55 four-unit buildings; and Phase II which has 25 buildings.  The units contain one or two bedrooms and some feature walk-out hillside construction.  The Centennial Farm community construction was started in the early 1980’s and finished 10 years later. The grounds and common areas are well maintained and landscaped, and provide a beautiful, serene, and quiet country living atmosphere.  An elected Board of Directors governs each Phase with assistance from a management company that oversees the maintenance duties.

Centennial Farm is close to expressways, just east of US-23 and south of I-96, and the nearby cities of South Lyon, New Hudson, and Brighton provide many shopping, dining, recreational, and worship opportunities.  Residents enjoy many planned activities that are centered about the deluxe club house which is situated on beautiful Crooked Lake.  Activities include pool, card games, movie nights, and monthly coffee hours for all residents. Residents can also enjoy the beach area for picnicking, swimming, fishing, and boating in canoes, kayaks, and paddle-boats owned by the community.
